Australian Sake Awards Incorporated (Operated by JAMS.TV Pty Ltd) is pleased to announce that the Australian Sake Awards 2026, an international sake competition held in Australia (Judging: 16–17 May 2026; Gala Dinner: 10 September 2026) has been officially recognised as a commemorative event of the 50th Anniversary of the Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Japan and Australia in 2026.

The Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Japan and Australia was signed in Tokyo on 16 June 1976 and serves as a key foundation for cooperation between the two countries. The year 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of the treaty, provides an opportunity to further strengthen bilateral relations.

About Australian Sake Awards

Australian Sake Awards is an international sake competition held in Sydney, Australia, since 2022.

Entries are evaluated through a blind tasting process by Australian judges with extensive expertise in Japanese sake and beverages, including sommeliers, liquor professionals, hospitality industry specialists, certified sake experts, and importers/distributors.

Through evaluation by local professionals, the Awards aim to deepen understanding and appreciation of sake while promoting fair and appropriate recognition of its quality. The initiative also seeks to support the sustainable development of sake within the Australian market.
