Volunteer Opportunities

Australian Sake Awards Incorporated is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support our annual Judging Sessions and the Gala Dinner & Tasting events. Join us in celebrating and promoting sake culture in Australia!

Volunteer Roles

As an event assistant, you will be involved in the following activities to ensure a smooth and successful event:

Judging Sessions

  • Setting up and preparing the judging venue.
  • Packing and managing sake bottles for blind tastings.
  • Serving sake to judges and clearing stations.
  • Ensuring all judges have access to drinking water

Gala Dinner

  • Welcoming and registering guests at the front desk.
  • Assisting with the official award presentations.
  • Providing tasting assistance to general attendees (Valid RSA required).

Working Conditions

Duration Event days only
Working Hours Approximately 6 to 8 hours per event day (including breaks).
Benefits This is a voluntary role; however, meals and refreshments will be provided on the day. Upon completion, volunteers will receive an official Certificate of Participation from the Association.

Volunteer Code of Conduct (Excerpts)

All volunteers are required to adhere to the following regulations:

  • Alcohol Handling and RSA Compliance
  • Consumption of alcohol during working hours is strictly prohibited. Sake must be handled with the utmost professional care.
  • In accordance with Australian law, any volunteer involved in the serving of sake (including tastings) must hold a valid RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certificate.
  • Confidentiality: Volunteers must not disclose any confidential information obtained during their service—including judging results, unannounced information, or behind-the-scenes footage—on social media or blogs without prior permission from the Association.
  • Dress Code: Please follow the specified dress code (e.g., plain black top or provided event T-shirt).

Eligibility

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must hold a valid RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certificate (Mandatory).
  • Must have a passion for sake and be a dedicated team player.
